Both of the BRK smoke alarms have ten year
guarantees and ten year Lithium battery backup. Making them one of
the most reliable & environmentally friendly alarms available
to date. The optical alarm responds to the effect of smoke generated
from a slow burning fire caused by man made fibres (e.g. smoldering).
When smoke enters the chamber in sufficient quantity, it enables a
signal to be triggered. This activates a piercing 85dB siren.
The ION alarm responds to the effect of fast flaming fires, such as petro-chemicals. When particles of smoke from the combustion process enter the chamber they disturb a balanced current condition, due to the ionisation process, so triggering the 85dB siren. |

BRK were the first company to highlight the problems
of carbon monoxide poisoning in the UK, and therefore launched the
two detectors shown to the left. This new AC hard wired carbon monoxide
alarm has been developed for residential applications, where fuel-burning
appliances are installed. Particular risks apply where maintenance
is not the direct responsibility of the users and service procedures
may not be correctly observed.
CO alarms are not a substitute for regular maintenance or non compliance with statutory regulations e.g. Gas Safety Regulations. The BRK carbon monoxide alarm is designed to be compliant with BS 7860 (1996). |
