How we can help

In care settings, people may be less able to react quickly or get out on their own — so dependable fire protection matters more than anywhere. We help care homes and care-at-home providers keep residents and staff safe.

That includes fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting and signage, fire risk assessments and kitchen suppression for care-home kitchens, along with CeaseFire systems for domestic kitchens and electrical distribution boards. All looked after by one local team.

Fire Alarm Systems

A fire alarm gives everyone the earliest possible warning, so people can get out safely and the fire brigade can be called straight away.

How we help

Whatever you need — upgrading an older system, cutting down on false alarms in a block of flats, or fitting a wireless alarm in a day with no mess and no wiring — we can sort it. Our local engineers cover the whole of the South West and look after systems of every size, from a single shop to a large hospital, including listed buildings.

We design, install, commission and maintain alarms to the British Standard (BS5839), and there are three main types to choose from:

  • Conventional — a simple, cost-effective system that tells you which area, or ‘zone’, a fire is in. Ideal for smaller premises.
  • Addressable — a smarter system that pinpoints the exact device that has triggered, so a fire is quicker to find and the system is easier to manage.
  • Wireless (radio) — no cabling, so it is perfect for listed buildings, holiday lets and anywhere you cannot afford disruption. It can often be fitted in a day.

Fire Extinguishers

Having the right extinguisher to hand can stop a small fire turning into a disaster. We supply, fit and service every type.

The right cover

Most fire risk assessments call for extinguishers, and we make sure you have the correct ones for your building. Our engineers are BAFE accredited, and we service every extinguisher each year so it is always ready to use.

Different fires need different extinguishers, so we will match them to your risks:

  • Water — for paper, wood and textiles. The classic red extinguisher you will see in offices and schools.
  • Foam — for the same materials plus flammable liquids, smothering the flames.
  • CO₂ — clean and mess-free, ideal for electrical equipment and IT.
  • Powder — a versatile all-rounder, including for flammable liquids and live electrics.
  • Wet chemical — specially for cooking-oil fires in kitchens.

We can also supply specialist units, including for lithium-ion battery risks, and service your fire hose reels.

Fire Risk Assessments

By law, most businesses must have a fire risk assessment. We arrange one for you, carried out by independent experts.

What it involves

A fire risk assessment is a legal requirement for anyone employing five or more people, as well as licensed premises, public buildings and shared residential properties such as HMOs.

An assessor walks through your building, spots anything that could start or help spread a fire, and gives you a clear, easy-to-follow action plan showing exactly what, if anything, needs putting right.

We use fully independent, accredited assessors, so the advice you get is completely impartial. Their reports use the nationally recognised PAS79+ format, and we can quote — with no obligation — for any work that is needed.

Emergency Lighting

If the power fails during a fire, emergency lighting keeps escape routes lit so everyone can find their way out.

Always ready

The moment the mains power goes off, emergency lighting switches on by itself and guides everyone safely to the exits. We have been installing and maintaining it for many years, in shops, offices, flats and HMOs.

We fit all types — from bulkhead LED fittings to discreet architectural lights, intelligent self-testing systems and central battery setups — and make sure everything meets the BS5266 standard.

Our engineers will survey your building, advise on exactly what you need, and keep it all properly maintained.

Emergency Signage

Clear signs show people where the exits and fire equipment are — vital when every second counts.

Signs for any setting

When a building is smoky or unfamiliar, clear signs guide people to safety and point out where the fire equipment is.

We stock a huge range of photoluminescent, or ‘glow-in-the-dark’, safety signs at competitive prices, and can order almost any sign at short notice. They all come with a five-year guarantee and exceed the relevant British, European and international standards.

Our team is trained to choose and position the right signs for your premises, with a specialist on hand for larger or more unusual projects.

Kitchen Suppression

Busy kitchens need special protection over the cookers. An ANSUL system puts out fat fires automatically, before they spread.

Built for kitchens

Ordinary extinguishers cannot deal with burning cooking fat — in fact, a kitchen over a certain size needs a fixed system rather than portable extinguishers. An ANSUL system sits above your cooking range and acts on its own.

The moment it senses a fire, it sprays the cookers, filters and extraction ducts with a special agent that cools the fat and forms a soapy blanket over it, sealing out the air and putting the fire out.

We are BAFE SP206 accredited and the sole agent for ANSUL in the South West, so we can design, install, service and refill these systems for commercial and care-home kitchens.

CeaseFire Systems

CeaseFire systems put out fires automatically, around the clock, without power or anyone present — giving extra peace of mind where people are vulnerable.

Where it helps

In care settings, residents may not be able to react quickly, so automatic protection in the highest-risk spots gives real peace of mind.

  • Care-at-home kitchens — a domestic unit above the hob deals with a cooking fire straight away.
  • Distribution boards — small ‘mini’ units catch electrical faults early, before they can spread.

Domestic Kitchen Suppression

Automatic fire suppression built into the kitchen, tackling a cooking fire the moment it starts — round-the-clock protection for homes, flats and rental properties, even when no one’s there to react.

Protection where fires start

Most home fires start in the kitchen. A Ceasefire domestic suppression system fits discreetly within the cooker hood area and detects a fire automatically, discharging its agent straight onto the source to cool the flames and stop them spreading — no human intervention needed.

Available with water mist or wet chemical technology, it is ideal for rental homes, HMOs, supported and student living, holiday lets and care settings, giving landlords, operators and residents 24-hour peace of mind.
